I think most of my close friends know I like oldies, and this is one of my favourite! I'm sure many people heard this song before.. But then again, I thought everyone knew Starry starry night/Vincent, but no one did. Even Play that funky music by WildCherry! I PROMISE I will post Play that funky music video by Adam Lambert from American Idol. Blew me off when he sang that song :D

So here ya go, Can't smile without you! :D The Carpenters aren't the original singers, the original singer is Barry Manilow. But I LOOOOVVVEE Karen Carpenter's voice! Just in case you don't know, she's the singer for Close to you!

The lyrics goes like that (close to you), why do stars fall down from the sky? everytime you walk by. Just like me.. they long to be close to you.. RINGS A BELL??

Anyways, listen to this! then you'll know why I like oldies. Well, hear her pipes work out the vocals! And back then they don't have high tech gizmos and tech to turn shitty singers sound like a vocalist. They're so original. So clean and pure. And they sound just the same, live. Perfect.

Unlike songs that are so computerized, they sound like robots mumbling. Kanye West? Lady Gaga? aiyoyoyo. Ever tried hearing them sing live? *shakes head.

Thats why I get really hooked up to reality singing competitions from western to eastern ones, and then REALLY judge for myself if they are good singers. then maybe, i'll support them, and the music they'll produce. But then again...

Look at David Archuleta :( I was soooo mesmerized when he sang on stage.. Songs like Imagine by John Lennon (Beatles), Think of Me written by Andrew Llyod Webber and a whole lot more. BUTTT.. his music NOW... sighs. Its getting too techno (Zero Gravity in specific).. But he still does amazing live. Despite his talents and cute a[[earance, he doesn't quite appeal to me as the wonderful artiste he was before.. during the competition.

Oh I must also add, Cassadee(spelt right?) from Hey Monday is one hell of a singer! You can't really judge by her hit song Homecoming, studio version. Try listening to her sing live. And holy shit, if you're fond of Hey Monday, try Candles. Her high notes can blow you off your seats. And she does just as good singing live.

I suggest all of you listen to her sing live. Hmm.. I'll post her video for the next post :D
